The short version
- We only read the health data you allow, and you can change that in iOS Settings or in the app at any time.
- We don't sell your data, and we never use health data for advertising.
- What you type, say or photograph about a meal is sent to AI providers so they can estimate its nutrition.
- You can delete your account and everything tied to it from inside the app.
What we collect
Account information
Your email address and name, and the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them. If you join the beta waitlist on this website, we store the email you enter and which form you used.
Profile details
Details you give us to personalize your estimates: date of birth, sex (or a neutral estimate if you prefer not to say), weight, and your goals and focus areas.
Health and fitness data you connect
With your permission, we read data from Apple Health, and from Google Health if you connect it (including data your Fitbit syncs there). Depending on what you allow, this includes steps, distance, active energy, exercise minutes, activity ring totals, workouts, heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep and sleep stages, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, and body measurements such as weight. We use it to calculate your scores and show your history. When you finish a workout in Pulse, we can also save it back to Apple Health or Google Health.
What you log
Meals you describe in text or by voice, meal photos you take or choose, barcodes you scan, foods you save, and workouts you start, edit or finish. Voice is converted to text by Apple's speech recognition on your device's behalf, and we only receive the text. We store the nutrition estimates and any edits you make. Meal photos are stored with the meal they logged so you can see them later, and are deleted when you delete that meal or your account. A photo that never becomes a logged meal is deleted within a day.
Location
If you allow it, we use your location to save your gym as a workout place, to remind you to start a workout when you arrive and to stop it when you leave, and to record where a workout happened. While a workout is recording we take periodic position readings. When it ends we discard them and keep its start and end points and the spot where you spent most of it, to show on the workout's map and match it to your saved places. We also keep a short history of where recent workouts ended, so we can suggest saving a place you go often.
Camera and microphone
The camera is used only to photograph meals and scan food barcodes, and the microphone only to let you say what you ate. We store only the meal photos you choose to log, as described above, and never store audio. We read only the photos you pick from your library, not the rest of it.
Usage and device information
We record how the app and this website are used: screens and pages viewed, features used, whether an action worked or failed, device type, app version, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We also store a push-notification token for your device. Our analytics events do not include what you type, your measurements (such as heart rate, weight, sleep or calories), or your location.
How we use it
- To provide Pulse: calculate scores, sync your sources, estimate nutrition, and send the reminders you turned on.
- To keep it working: find and fix errors, and understand which features help.
- To contact you about your account, and, if you joined the waitlist, to send your beta invite.
- To keep Pulse secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use health data, or anything we learn from it, for advertising or marketing, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
Who processes it
We use these service providers to run Pulse. They process data on our behalf and only for the purposes described here.

|---|---|
| Convex | Hosts our database and backend, where your account and app data are stored. |
| Vercel | Hosts this website, and routes AI requests to the model providers below. |
| Mastra | Runs the service that turns a food description or meal photo into items and nutrition. |
| Google (Gemini), OpenAI and TypeSafe | AI models that read the food descriptions and meal photos you enter to identify foods and estimate portions and nutrition. |
| USDA FoodData Central, FatSecret, Open Food Facts, Exa | Nutrition databases and web search. They receive food names or barcodes, not your identity. |
| PostHog | Product analytics for the app and this website. |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, Apple Health, speech-to-text for voice logging, place search and address lookup for workout places, and push notifications. |

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.
Google API data
Pulse's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google Health data only to provide the features you see in the app, and we don't use it for advertising or let people read it except where that's needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your consent.
Cookies on this website
This website stores an anonymous identifier in a cookie and your browser's local storage so our analytics can tell repeat visits apart. We don't use advertising cookies. You can clear or block these in your browser settings.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from the app's Settings, which permanently removes your app data and your account. You can disconnect Apple Health or Google Health at any time. Data already read stays in your account until you delete it. To remove a waitlist email, write to us at hello@pulsemirror.app.
Your choices and rights
You can change which data Pulse can read in iOS Settings, and turn location, notifications, camera and microphone access on or off there. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, email hello@pulsemirror.app. We won't treat you differently for exercising these rights.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No service is perfectly secure, so please let us know right away at hello@pulsemirror.app if you think your account has been compromised.
Where data is processed
Our service providers are based in the United States and may process data there or in other countries. When data is transferred across borders, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer.
Children
Pulse is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
